OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, NEB. -- Col. Charles French assumed command of
the Air Force Weather Agency, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska from Col.
John Hayes, on 24 September 1998.
Col Hayes is retiring from the Air Force after 28 exemplary years of service.
Col Hayes and his wife Sharon will move to the Washington DC area, where
Col Hayes will work for Litton PRC Inc. as the Advanced Weather Interactive
Processing System Program Director.
Col Frenchs prior assignment was as the Director of Weather in the
Directorate of Air and Space Operations, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces,
Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. No stranger to Offutt AFB; Col French started
his career at the Air Force Global Weather Central at Offutt in 1973.
He has served in various roles throughout his military career, which he
feels will help him lead in his newest challenge. He cited teamwork as
a primary theme hell focus on during his tenure. Ive
had the opportunity to see a number of different pieces of the Weather
System, I believe its critical to blend them. Its important
to mix experiences, to move the Air Force forward.
*****
Col Bob Allen has replaced Col French as the Director of Weather in the
Directorate of Air and Space Operations, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces,
Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.
