COLONEL JOSEPH D. DUSHAN

Colonel Joseph D. Dushan is the Commander, Air Weather Service, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. As commander, he manages more than 1,100 military and civilian personnel tasked with providing or arranging centralized weather and space environmental service to the Air Force, Army, Joint Chiefs of Staff, designated unified and specified commands, and other agencies as directed by the chief of staff, Headquarters, United States Air Force. A Field Operating Agency, AWS is composed of the headquarters, two centers, one facility, and two operating locations.

Colonel Dushan was born on July 29, 1944 in Madison, Wis. He was commissioned as a distinguished graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program in June 1968.

Colonel Dushan is married to the former Terry Lynne Vacanti of Santa Monica, Calif. They have two sons, Gregory and Douglas.

ASSIGNMENTS
1. June 1968-August 1970 Forecaster and command post weather operations officer providing direct weather support to the Strategic Air Command's 2nd Bombardment Wing and to the 2nd Air Force at Barksdale AFB, La.
2. From August 1970 to December 1971, Air Force Institute of Technology with duty at Texas A&M University where he completed his master's degree.
3. 1971-1973 Current Operations Officer Air Force Global Weather Central, Offutt AFB, Neb.
4. 1973 Command weather briefer and mission weather officer 3rd Weather Wing with the Strategic Reconnaissance Center, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Headquarters, Strategic Air Command, also at Offutt.

9. March 1986-Auigust 1987 Commander 3rd Weather Squadron and served as the Staff Weather Officer to the United States Central Command Air Forces and Tactical Air Command's 9th Air Force Shaw AFB, S.C.
