The building and land belong to the Thai Department of Meteorology. Air Weather Service installed all reconditioned equipment in August and September 1967 with the exception of a Base Line Check Box. 	1^st Weather Wing History 01 January – 30 June 1968 Volume II Location: Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii 1^st Weather Group, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Vietnam Camp Eagle, Operating Location-4, Detachment 32, 5^th Weather Squadron, personnel moved from Bien Hoa Air Base to Gia Le and thence to Camp Eagle. By 22 March 1968 the entire weather complex had achieved a look of semi-permanence. Throughout April, Empty ammunition cases were collected, wood and equipment scrounged, and furniture and floors built and installed. On 29 January 1968 a new tent and bunker complex was completed after the move of the OL personnel from An Khe to Camp Evans. By 01 May 1968 enough empty ammunition cases had been collected to floor all but one tent. On 19 May 1968 the entire weather complex was leveled by shock and blast waves from exploding ammunition pallets. On 7 March 1968 the weather station, tower complex, and weather living area all located in an abandoned villa took three direct hits when Dau Tieng received an unknown number of mixed 122MM rocket and mortar fire. Staff Sergeant Emmette W. Woods (Observer) received a slight shrapnel wound. The weather living area was destroyed and the weather station area heaving damaged. A 122MM rocket impacted approximately 6 feet from the tent used by the combat weather team living quarters. Airman First Class Max D. Dalton (observer) was slightly wounded when he was knocked down by the blast as he attempted to gain cover in a bunker. The combat weather team’s tent and belongings were heavily damaged. Bready and Montagnard tribesman with a crossbow. Detachment 5 at Detachment 5, 30^th Weather Squadron, Pleiku, Republic of Vietnam. Detachment 5 sold Montagnard artifacts. Sales totaled $3,425.00. Staff Sergeant Bready was the Civic Actions team leader. He helped the medical officers, acted as translator, and distributed used lumber and clothing. The three new Squadron Commanders, Lt Colonel William E. Cummins, II, Commander 5^th Weather Squadron, Lt Colonel Harry B. Vaughan, Commander, 10^th Weather Squadron, and Lt Colonel Roy A. Wegener, Commander, 30^th Weather Squadron, joined Colonel Griffin H. Woods, Commander, 1^st Weather Group for comprehensive briefings by the command section and the chiefs of the staff divisions. 	1^st Weather Wing History 01 July – 31 December 1968 Volume II Location: Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii 1^st Weather Group, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Vietnam During this period, major emphasis was placed on improving the living conditions of 1^st Weather Group personnel throughout Southeast Asia. Typical was the program of weather units on Tan Son Nhut, whereby personnel were provided desks, rugs, bedspreads, and lamps the barracks were tiled, and one barracks was partitioned into rooms, providing with floor and ceiling tile, and designated for senior weather noncommissioned officers (SNCOs).
